Life of the Unemployed

So I've been unemployed almost two months now.  This "life of leisure" is for the birds!  I can sit in front of my laptop all day checking websites, email, sending out resumes and the phone not ring at all.  It's amazing cause there were always all kinds of messages on my answering machine when I got home from work!
The cats really love having me home!  They take turns laying in my lap as I work on the laptop.  If they don't get enough attention, they leave for food or to wander around the living room, then come back to put their paws on my leg and demand attention.  Don't know how they will act when I do finally go back to work.
The fun part of being out of work is being able to go to church early on Wednesdays and help with dinner.  I'm the "drink lady" ~ put ice in glasses, set them out, pour the unsweet, sweet and rasberry/peach tea and water, keep enough out so people don't have to ask for it.  I set glasses on trays, give out straws, get hugs (the great part!), smile and talk to lots of people!  It's so fun!  Ten minutes before they finish serving dinner, I get a salad and some soup and sit to eat.  I always get dinner and dessert to go and eat later at home.  Choir is at 6:30 and I'm usually home by 8:30, ready to eat and watch my 'Wednesday men' on CBS.  The cats check out what I'm eating and lay on the chair arm and/or back while I eat, then move to my lap and the chair bottom ~ it's a recliner.  We snuggle in for the evening.
God is providing ~ He's always faithful!  He has closed two doors to job opportunities so far.  I know He has the perfect place waiting for me.  In His good timing it will be there.  There are times when I get really depressed and yes, the tears come.  But through it all He is there with a peace that's just undescribable.  I can continue to smile because I know He loves me, knows what's ahead for me and will bring it to pass in His time.  I continue to be faithful and do as I've always done, waiting for His perfect will.

If it's Thursday, it must mean Mexican!

Here it is Thursday and time to have Mexican with my lovely niece and her Grandmother, plus asorted friends ~ oh, and my sister Mary, too! She's still with me! This makes two weeks now and she'll be here one more! What joy!

This is known as 'Nanny Night' ~ Mardi calls her Grandmother 'Nanny' and the dear sweet lady loves Mexican food, especially the margaritas! It's an evening we all look forward to the food and the fellowship and the laughter. There can be as few as three and as many as eight. We can eat and run or relocate to Mardi's and sit on the porch . . . we are in the south and it is the thing to do!

It's been a week and I'm so ready for 'Nanny Night'! A dear sweet lady, whom I've known all my life, died Sunday. She had a wonderful 97 years, filled with love, family, laughter, joy, travel, even sad times and tears. I, as well as others commented this week, have never heard her raise her voice in anger or say something bad about anyone. She almost always had a smile on her face. Guess that was the joy of the Lord shining thru! She will be greatly missed by many people who loved her dearly! Miss Lillie Mae, I love you to pieces!
